Before you order

The casting decision is made on the first page: your child is a young T-Rex, and the jungle is the setting.
From there it is a matter of getting through it — stomping past towering Brachiosauruses, then slipping away from a Spinosaurus who is in a bad mood about something. The grumpiness is the only real threat in the book, which is about the right level. The name is printed on every page, so the dinosaur doing the stomping is unambiguously theirs. Softcover.
Best for ages 3 to 8, and for anyone currently in a dinosaur phase regardless of what the birth certificate says. The phase is real and it is not brief. A book that takes it seriously, rather than treating it as something to be grown out of, gets read until it falls apart.
