About Us

About us

We sell other people's stories. These ones are yours.

Wild Time Comics & Stories has been on Washington Street in Attleboro long enough that the kids who came in for their first comic now bring their own kids in. This part of the shop is newer.

Where this came from

A comic shop spends its whole life recommending stories about somebody else. Caped strangers, teenage sorcerers, the crew of whatever starship is currently on fire. That's the job, and we like it.

But the question we kept getting at the counter wasn't about comics at all. It was some version of: my niece is turning one, my son's about to become a big brother, my mother just became a grandmother — do you have anything for that? We'd point at the greeting card rack and feel a bit useless about it.

A card gets read once. A book with your name printed in it gets read until the spine gives out.

So we started printing personalised storybooks. Same instinct as the shop — put the right story in the right person's hands — except the main character is somebody you actually know.

How the books are made

Every title in the catalogue is illustrated and written in advance. What changes is the personalisation: the name, and depending on the book, the relationship, the dedication, and sometimes the cover colour. You enter those at checkout, we typeset them into the artwork, and the book goes to a printer here in the United States.

Nothing is held in stock. That's why there's a 2–4 day production window before anything ships, and it's also why we can't take a personalised book back once it's printed — there is exactly one copy of it in the world and it has somebody's grandchild's name on the cover.

What we'll tell you straight

This online store is new, and we have no customer reviews of the books yet. We're not going to borrow somebody else's or write our own — when real ones exist, they'll go up here. Until then the shop itself is the reference: it's a physical address you can drive to, and you're welcome to come in and handle a printed sample before you commit to one.

If a book turns up damaged, misprinted, or spelled differently from the preview you approved, that's ours to fix and we'll fix it free. If you typed the name wrong, tell us fast and we'll usually catch it before printing. The full terms are in our refund policy, written in plain English.
