Happy, brave, angry, calm, sad, scared, silly and shy each get a page of their own, with the child's name set through the story. None of them is presented as the wrong one to be having. That even-handedness is the entire design, and it is what keeps the book from turning into an instruction about behaving better. Hardcover.
It earns its keep in the years when a child has the feeling before they have the word for it — the stretch where most of the shouting comes from not being able to say what is wrong. Read it when nothing is wrong. The vocabulary is easier to pick up on a calm afternoon.
