Her name is printed through the story and again on the dedication page. Covering both the before and the after is what gives it something to say; most new-baby books start on the day itself and run out of material by the end. Hardcover.
In practice it does two jobs. It gets read out at the shower, where a book addressed to someone not yet present is a strange and effective thing, and then it goes onto the shelf for years. Nothing about it expires when she stops being a newborn.
