The conceit is simple and it holds: it describes somebody cool, smart, funny and kind, while insisting throughout that it is not about the person reading it. It does, however, sound exactly like them. The joke and the compliment arrive in the same sentence, which is a fair description of how affection actually gets expressed by people who find it awkward.
