It works in rhyme, with the child's name turning up along the way, and the pace is deliberately slow. The illustrations are soft to match. At that hour of the evening the last thing a book should do is wake anybody up, and the whole design of this one is arranged around not doing that. Hardcover.
It is given most often at baby showers and for new arrivals, which makes sense — it is the sort of thing new parents do not think to buy for themselves and then use every night. Put it at the end of the routine rather than in the middle. It is built to be the last thing, and it reads better there.
